On 25th February 2020, International Mother Language Day was held in Keerthi Hall at 2.30 p.m. The programme commenced with the prayer song and Tamilthai Vazhthu. The dignitaries on the dias lighted the kuthuvizhaku. Ms.S.Sneha Sri of I B.Sc. Computer Science welcomed the gathering. The Chairman CA.N.V.Natarajan of Paavai Institutions presided over the function and Smt.Mangai Natarajan, Correspondent, Paavai Institutions felicitated the gathering. The Special Guests of the day were Dr. K.Kumarasamy, the Chairman of Chennai National Institute of Thought, Member of Periyar University Governing Council, Salem and M.K.S.Rajendran, the Organisating Secretary of Chennai National Institute of Thought. The Guest of Honour was Neelakandayini Priya Amba, Correspondent and Secretary of Sarada Nikethan Arts and Science College, karur. The Special Guests in their special address said, “It brings happiness on seeing Paavai Institutions taking step to spread the dignity of Tamil language to the young generation by celebrating International Mother Language Day. Our Mother Language is a classical language of grammatical style, literary beauty and has the sense of motherhood. Our motherland too has a specialty called ‘Unity in Diversity’ like our mother language. Hence the students should feel the greatness of our mother language and take the bull by the horns to propagate the prominence of our language. The students should learn Tamil literary works, have interest in vast reading and sign in Tamil to uplift the status of our language. Hearty wishes to the students to enrich themselves and pass on the greatness of Tamil to next generation.” Earlier, the students of Paavai gave special speeches in different dialects relating the National Integrity of Indian languages. Dr.R.Rajeswari, Principal, Pavai Arts and Science College for Women, HoDs, Staff and the students graced the occasion. The programme came to an end with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms.K.Priya of III B .Sc. Chemistry followed by the National Anthem.
