The Department of English organized a webinar on “The Future of Translation: Emerging Trends and Innovations” at 2:00 p.m. in Keerthi Hall on August 19, 2024. The guest speakers for this event were Puja Kumari, Founder of Namya Magazine, Pune, and Nikitha Mukherjee, Co-founder of Namya Magazine. Ms. T. Kanagavalli from II MA English welcomed the gathering, while Ms. P. Swetha and Ms. R. Vasumathi from II MA English introduced the guest speakers.
Puja Kumari discussed translation studies and its practical applications, emphasizing how it can be applied in storytelling and other real-world contexts. She elaborated on various translation strategies, including Equation, Substitution, Divergence, Convergence, Amplification, Reduction, Diffusion, and Condensation.
Nikitha Mukherjee followed with a detailed explanation of the six types of translation: literal translation, medical translation, financial translation, marketing translation, legal translation, and script translation. The students actively participated in the webinar, asking numerous questions about translation studies and content writing, showing their enthusiastic involvement.
The guest lectures were both informative and interactive. The speakers appreciated the students’ engagement and enthusiasm in learning about the subjects. The guest speakers expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to speak at the event, noting it was a rewarding experience in their careers. T.
