On 02.08.2019, Tamil Literary Association conducted a Debate on the topic Pengalin Munnetrathirkku perithum thunai nirpathu kudumbama? Samuthayama? in the presence of the Principal Dr.R.Rajeswari, in Keerthi Hall at 3.00 pm in Pavai Arts and Science College for Women.The programme began with the prayer song. V.Sagithya of III B.Sc. Chemistry welcomed the gathering. The students who took the side of Family were P.Yamuna, P.Vijayalakshmi, V.Kiruthika, S.Nandhini, and M.M.Dhivyasree. The students on the side of Society were A.P.Anusha, Kowsalya, S.Poonguzhali, K.Sneha and V.Jothi.The students argued robustly to convey their points and views. Students supporting Family strongly argued that Family imparts good discipline and decorum to women and also encourages them in times of need, provides confidence and support when they are down in heart. The students of the opposite side said firmly that only with the help of the Society women in general got freedom to speak, right to learn, remarriage and so on.Dr.K.Umamaheswari, Head of the Department of Tamil in her final verdict said that family teaches good things to women, on the other hand society teaches them how to behave in public. Only family supports women in all situations and make them move in the society with courage and hope. She then announced that Family plays vital role in women‘s progress.R.Durga of II B.Sc. Mathematics proposed the Vote of thanks and the activity came to an end with National Anthem.
