A Guest Lecture on the topic, ‘Applications of Differential Equations’ was organized by the Department of Mathematics of Pavai Arts and Science College for Women on 7.10.2022 in Keerthi Hall at 02.00 p.m by all UG and PG students of the Department of Mathematics.
The programme started with the prayer song by the students. Ms.L. Divyadharshini of II M.Sc. Mathematics welcomed the gathering. Ms. T. Jayavarthini of I B.Sc. Mathematics introduced the Guest Speaker,Dr.M.Sathishkumar, Associate Professor of Mathematics, Paavai Engineering College. The Guest speaker in his special address explained the basics of the differential equations and its applications through PowerPoint presentation. He explained about the population models, Newton’s law of cooling, Predator-Prey model and Maxwell’s equation. In population model, he explained how to find the exponential solution by using logistic growth and population growth. In Newton’s law of cooling, he explicated the charge at which a body exchanges it’s temperature while it is exposed via radiation. In predator -prey model, he described the growth of two interdependent populations. In Maxwell’s equation, he explained how electric and magnetic fields interact. Finally he explained how to solve the partial differential equations with examples. Students enthusiastically observed the session.
Ms. R. Santhiya of IB.Sc. Mathematics proposed the Vote of Thanks and the Guest Lecture came to an end with National Anthem.
