A Symposium on the topic, ‘Biodegradable Polymers’ was conducted by the Department of Chemistry of Pavai Arts and Science College for Women on 26.09.2019 in Keerthi Hall at 11.00 a.m. Students from various colleges and UG and PG students of Pavai attended the symposium. The Inaugural session of the programme started with the prayer song by the students. Dr.R.Rajeswari, Principal, Pavai Arts and Science College for Women, presided over the function. Ms.K.Magi Yasica of II B.Sc Chemistry welcomed the gathering. Ms. G.Keerthana of II B.Sc Chemistry introduced the Guest Speaker Dr.R.Lavanya, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, Dr.M.G.R Research and Educational Institute, Chennai. The Guest speaker in her special address explained about the use of plastics and the disposal procedure. She gave a detailed explanation of the polymer chemistry and its types. She also illustrated how to reduce, reuse and recycle the plastics which are used in our day to day life. After the Special Address the Paper presentation session was held in which 17 papers were presented. In the afternoon, events such as Recichem, Chemaloon, Quiz-o-chem and Chemapp were conducted. Principal madam distributed the certificates and trophies to the participants and the winners. Ms.G.Nandhini of II B.Sc. Chemistry proposed the Vote of Thanks and the symposium came to an end with National Anthem.
