A Symposium on the topic, ‘Areas of Advanced Mathematics’ was conducted by the Department of Mathematics of Pavai Arts and Science College for Women on 24.09.2019 in Keerthi Hall at 11.00 a.m. Around 30 students from various colleges and UG and PG students of Pavai attended the symposium. The Inaugural session of the programme started with the prayer song by the students. Ms.K.Meenakshi of II M.Sc.Mathematics welcomed the gathering. Dr.R.Rajeswari, Principal, Pavai Arts and Science College for Women, presided over the function and in her Presidential Address she stated that such programmes will be a right platform for the students to showcase their knowledge and bring out their inner ability. She also insisted them to acquire wide information from various resource persons and wished them to succeed in their life by grasping the opportunities given to them. Ms. D.Monisha of III B.Sc. Mathematics introduced the Guest Speaker Dr.K.Karuppiah, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, Department of Science and Humanities, Government College of Engineering, Theni. The guest speaker in his special address detailed the basics of Mathematics and taught the simple way to understand and remember formulae. He also explained Differentiation, Vector Space, Dimension, Matrices and Linear Transformation Compact. He further provided easy clues to solve problems for competitive Examinations. After the special address, Paper presentation session was held and 6 papers were presented. In the afternoon, events such as Math Sketching, Math Riddles, Math Quiz, Math Rangoli and Paper Presentation were conducted. Sengunthar Arts and Science College got the Overall Championship. Kavitha’s College got second place. Pavai Arts and Science college for Women got third place. Principal madam distributed the certificates and trophies to the participants and the winners. Ms. N.Sangavi of II M.Sc. Mathematics proposed the Vote of Thanks and the symposium came to an end with National Anthem.
