Mr. Kolanthaivel Ramasamy delivered the keynote address, highlighting the importance of Tamil literature and language. In his speech, he remarked, “It is commendable to organize a Tamil literature quiz that inspires students to appreciate the richness of Tamil literature and its cultural significance. Learning Tamil allows us to understand its depth and excellence, such as the strength of women during the Sangam era, exemplified by stories of a widow sending her son to battle with courage and resilience.
“Just as a pearl in the sea enhances the beauty of its wearer, a woman’s uniqueness is beautifully expressed in Thirukkural. Tamil literature, through works like Silapathikaaram, Naaladiyar, Sivakachinthamani, Elathi, Muthumozhikanchi, Iniyavai Narpathu, and other short stories, provides insights into ancient traditions, ways of life, heroism, and culture. It teaches us valuable lessons about living. It is our responsibility to learn this extraordinary literature fully and pass it on to future generations.”
He concluded his address by extending his best wishes to the students, encouraging them to uphold and share the grandeur of Tamil literature with society.
Mrs. Sushila Gopalaswamy and Mrs. C. Jayalakshmi, Dean (Counseling) of Paavai Educational Institutions, served as judges for the quiz competition.
