On 29th January 2012, a guest lecture was delivered by Prof.R.Chenniyappan, Dean of English, Paavai Institutions, on the topic ‘Shakespeare’ .The Session was arranged by the department of English . It was held in the Keerthi Hall at 3.00 p.m. The programme began by invoking the presence of the Almighty through the prayer song. Ms.S. Yasmin Fargana of II M.A. English welcomed the gathering. Prof.R.Chenniyappan presented a bird’s eye view on Shakespeare as a Poet, Sonneteer and a Dramatist. The lecture focused on the structure, theme, techniques, and the characters of Shakespeare’s plays. He left no stone unturned relating to the eternal poet. The students sat spell-bound on listening to the mesmerizing speech of the guest. Towards the end of the speech, he cited some quotable quotations from the works of Shakespeare emphasizing the philosophy of life. Ms.M.Vinotha of I B.A. English proposed the vote of thanks followed by the National Anthem. The programme ended well as quoted by the immortal bard, “All is well that ends well”.
