A Symposium on the topic, ‘Energy Science’ was conducted by the Department of Physics of Pavai Arts and Science College for Women on 12.09.2019 in Keerthi Hall at 11.00 a.m. Around 35 students from various colleges and UG and PG students of Pavai attended the symposium. The Inaugural session of the programme started with the prayer song by the students. Mrs.G.Varshini of III B.Sc. Physics welcomed the gathering. Dr.R.Rajeswari, Principal felicitated the gathering. She then released the CD and the volume of articles presented by the students. Ms.M.Nickitha of III B.Sc. Physics introduced the Guest Speaker Dr.P.Maadeswaran, Assistant Professor, Department of Energy Science, Periyar University, Salem. The Guest speaker in his special address introduced Energy Science, one of the major inputs for the economic development of the country to the students. He also explained in detail Solar cells and its applications. He also focused on Solar power and energy with real time applications. He concluded his speech by amplifying the students’ interest on Energy Science and providing them with enough opportunity available in this field. Soon after the special address, Paper presentation session was held in which Thirty students presented their papers. In the afternoon, events such as Quiz, Pencil Art and Connections were conducted. Muthayammal Memorial College of Arts and Science got the Overall Championship. Pavai Arts and Science College got second place and N.K.R. Government Arts College for Women got third place. Principal madam distributed the certificates and trophies to the winners and the participants. Ms.S.Priya of II B.Sc. Physics proposed the Vote of Thanks and the symposium came to an end with National Anthem.
