A one day UG seminar on the topic, ‘Matrix and its Applications’ was conducted by the Department of Mathematics of Pavai Arts and Science College for Women on 25.09.2018 in Keerthi Hall. 350 participants from our college attended the seminar. Dr.S.Sowmiya, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, Paavai College of Engineering, Pachal, Namakkal was the Guest speaker for the occasion. The programme started with the prayer song. K.Subhalakshmi of III B.Sc. Mathematics welcomed the gathering. Dr. R.Rajeshwari, Principal, Pavai Arts and Science College for Women presided over the function and insisted the students to make use of such seminars to develop their academic knowledge. She then released the CD and Volumes and S.Sasikala, Head of the Department of Mathematics received them. Ms.R.Roseleen Nithiya, Assistant professor, Department of Mathematics in her prelude briefed out the importance of learning the Matrix and its applications. Ms.B.Dhivya, Assistant professor, Department of Mathematics introduced the Guest speaker Dr.S.Sowmiya. The Guest Speaker, in her Keynote address explained the usage of Matrix in day to day life and its Applications in various fields. Through the power point presentation, she clearly described the Matrix Dimensional and Matrix Factorization. Soon after inaugural function, Paper presentation session was held. The Valedictory function of the seminar started at 3.30 p.m. The students who presented the papers came out with their valuable suggestions and feedbacks. K.Swetha of I B.Sc Mathematics proposed the vote of thanks and the seminar came to an end with National Anthem. The Heads of various Departments, the participants from our college and faculty members were impressed and immensely profited through this seminar.
