Department of Geology conducted a webinar on the title ‘Application of Remote Sensing in Geology’ on September 29, 2021 through Google Meet. The programme commenced with the prayer song by Ms. AP. Anushaof III B.Sc Geology. Ms R. Ranjani Devi of III B.Sc Geology welcomed the gathering.
Ms M. Neela of III B.Sc Geology introduced the Guest Speaker. The Guest speaker Dr. Aparna S. Bhaskar, Associate Professor, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chengalpattu, Chennai in her speech gave a detailed introduction to Remote sensing data and itsusage in geological mappingand geological hazards. She also explained the analysis of remote sensing image, which includes the identification of various target in an image. She then explained the Geomorphology of coastal landforms. She further detailed how to differentiate true colour and false colour composite in remote sensing view. She concluded the speech by elaborating the application ofremote sensing data especially in acquiring information about Earth.
The programme came to an end with the vote of thanks delivered by Ms. R. Abinayasubhasri of II BSc Geology.
