Seminar on the topic, ‘New Insights into Post-Colonial Literature’ was conducted by the Department of English of Pavai Arts and Science College for Women on 04.09.2019 in Keerthi Hall at 10.30 a.m. All UG and PG students of the Department of English attended the Seminar. The Inaugural session of the programme started with the prayer song by the students. Ms.S.Karthika of II B.A. English welcomed the gathering. Ms.M.Jenifa of II B.A. English introduced the Guest Speaker Dr. K. Sangeetha, Assistant Professor of English, Sri Sarada College for Women, Salem. The guest speaker in her Special address presented the topic by explaining colonialism with real time example and described Post Colonialism and Post-Colonial writings. She detailed the two dimensions of post-colonial writings: Transnational and Translational. She then dealt with the Post-Colonial Theorists, their works and themes. She also gave a clear picture on the Post-colonial terms like Hybridity, Ethnicity, Imperialism, Diaspora, Otherness and Multiculturalism and so on. Students lent their ears to the speech with utmost attention and felt happy on receiving complete details on the topic. Soon after the Inaugural function, Paper presentation session was held in which twenty five students of UG and PG presented their papers. The Valedictory function of the Seminar started at 3.30 p.m. Dr.R.Rajeswari, Principal, Pavai Arts and Science College for Women distributed certificates to the paper presenters. Ms.M.Hemapriyadharshini of I B.A. English proposed the Vote of Thanks and the seminar came to an end with National Anthem.
