A Guest Lecture on the topic, Narrative Techniques in Post Modern Literature was organised by the Department of English of Pavai Arts and Science College for Women on 28.06.2019 in Keerthi Hall at 11.00 a.m in the presence of Dr.R.Rajeswari, Principal. All UG and PG students of the Department of English attended the Guest Lecture. The programme started with the prayer song by the students. Ms.A.Priyanka, III B.A. English welcomed the gathering. Ms.M.Rithika Roshini of II B.A. English introduced the Guest Speaker Ms.P.Vanmathi, Assistant Professor of English, PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, Coimbatore. The Guest speaker in her special address focused on the common themes and techniques of Post Modernism. She gave a clear picture on Post-modern Literature citing the postmodern novelists John Barth, Joseph Heller, William Gaddis and so on who treat serious subjects in a playful and humorous way. She also discussed Metafiction, Historiographic Metafiction, Fragmentation, Pastiche, Maximalism and Technoculture and Hyper reality in detail. She highlighted that postmodern literature portrays technology as the central focus in many lives and considers Paranoia as absurd. Her enthralling lecture on the topic spawned the thirst for acquiring knowledge on literature among the students. Ms.S.Priyetharsine of III B.A. English proposed the Vote of Thanks and the Guest Lecture came to an end with National Anthem.
