The guest lecture was delivered by Dr. A. Jothibasu, M.Sc., M.Phil., Ph.D., from the Department of Geology at Periyar University, Salem. The topic was “The Impact of Climate Change on Groundwater Resources.” Dr. Jothibasu provided definitions for several geology-related terms, such as weather, climate, and climate change. He explained that climate change not only impacts nature but affects all living organisms. Dr. Jothibasu discussed how climate change influences groundwater resources through changes in the hydrological cycle. He also highlighted the total amount of water available on Earth and our role in its wastage. By the end of the program, students were encouraged to recognize the extent of environmental exploitation and the importance of conserving resources for future generations. The lecture successfully raised awareness about the need to protect our Earth.
