The Department of Mathematics conducted a webinar on the topic “Boost Your Learning: Must-Have Online Tools for Success” at Pavai Arts and Science College for Women on August 12, 2024, in Keerthi Hall at 11:30 a.m. via Google Meet. All undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Department of Mathematics attended the webinar.
The program started with a prayer song. S. Logapriya of III B.Sc. Mathematics welcomed the gathering. T. Jayavarthini of III B.Sc. Mathematics introduced the guest speaker, Dr. V. Parthiban, Associate Professor (Senior Grade 2) in the Mathematics Division at the School of Advanced Sciences, Vellore Institute of Technology, Chennai.
The guest speaker addressed five essential AI tools, including ChatGPT, GeoGebra, Wolfram Alpha, and others, showcasing their capabilities in providing quick and effective solutions to everyday challenges. During the session, the speaker explained how ChatGPT can assist with a wide range of tasks, from drafting emails to providing explanations of complex concepts. GeoGebra, a tool primarily used for geometry, algebra, and calculus, was highlighted for its ability to help students visualize and solve mathematical problems interactively. Wolfram Alpha, known as a computational search engine, was discussed for its role in providing precise answers to factual queries, performing complex calculations, and generating data visualizations.
These tools were praised for their user-friendliness and how they integrate into daily life to simplify learning and problem-solving. The webinar emphasized the importance of leveraging these AI tools not only for academic purposes but also for personal growth and productivity.
