An Orientation Programme was organised for faculties of Pavai Arts and Science College for Women on 08.10.2022 in Smart Hall at 10.30 a.m. All the faculty members enthusiastically participated in the Orientation Programme. The programme started with the prayer song by the faculty members. Dr. J. Thavamani, Principal, Pavai Arts and Science College for Women welcomed the gathering. Smt. Avanti Natarajan, Director – Student Affairs honoured the the Chief guest Dr. N. Ezhili, Principal, PKR Arts College for Women, Gobichettipalayam with shawl and momento. Ms. D. Priyadharshini, Assistant Professor, Department of Geology introduced the chief guest.
Smt. Avanti Natarajan, Director – Student Affairs presided over the function. In her inaugural cum presidential address she quoted that the capacity to learn is a gift; the ability to learn is a skill and the willingness to learn is a choice. She stated that knowledge can be acquired by learning process through the mentors who may be parents or teachers or colleagues. She encouraged all the faculty members to be in a position to learn new things, mold themselves together as an entire team and build a new education community.
The Resource person,Dr. N. Ezhili delivered her Keynote address.She started her talk with the quotes “Yatha Drishti, Tatha Srishti” which means “perception through creation” and “yantra mantra tantra” which says to connect body and mind through meditation with what is seen and listened which ultimately brings out the innate intelligence. She proclaimed the famous saying “Teaching is the one profession that creates all other profession”. She asked to identify the category to which the teachers belong, among the four types of teachers: Idealists, Practioners, Moderators and Rationalists. She insisted that teaching to follow Concept and Content oriented teaching using suitable stories.
In the afternoon session, she over viewed the teaching and creative level of the faculties by micro-level teaching. She then discussed the importance of projects and way of presenting it to be sanctioned by various funding agencies. She said that the teachers should let the students to tap new questions with enough knowledge, courage and boldness and should value the questions to get innovative projects which can create novel entrepreneur for the welfare of the society. She conducted an activity for staff members for bringing out new projects and commercializing it by dividing them into four groups. Finally she said that projects can be converted into a new product like the saying “Old wine in a new bottle”. She also experimentally showed the calculation of theorems by simply arranging the pebbles and demonstrated the food web using thread and toys.She engaged the staff members the whole day with her wide knowledge and robust spirit.
Dr.K.K. Ramasamy, Director Administration, Dr. P. Mohan, Head, Science and Humanities, Dr. K. Selvi, Dean- Academics and Dr. R. Subashini, Head Faculty Development Department graced the occasion with their presence.
Mrs. N. Kalaiarasi, Head, Department of English proposed the Vote of Thanks. Faculty members came out with their words of feedback and the session came to an end with National Anthem.
