PG Seminar on the topic, ‘Crossing the Boundaries: Theories and Practices of Comparative Literature’ was conducted by the Department of English of Pavai Arts and Science College for Women on 16.10.2018 in Keerthi Hall at 11.00 a.m. All UG and PG students of the Department of English attended the Seminar. The Inaugural session of the programme started with the prayer song by the students. Ms.M.Jenifa, I B.A. English welcomed the gathering. Dr.R.Rajeswari, Principal felicitated the gathering. The principal in her Felicitation Address, explained Comparative Literature in a nutshell. She stated that Comparative Literature helps to analyse and evaluate the circumstances and environment in other literatures and thereby helps to know about different cultures and traditions. She suggested the students to compare the characters in a work of art with that of real life characters and live a life accordingly. She concluded her speech by asking the students to read wide range of books across the world and gain different experiences and more knowledge. She then released the volume of articles presented by the students and Dr.K.Umamaheswari, Head, Department of Tamil received it. Mrs.N.Kalaiarasi, the Head, Department of English presented the prelude to the seminar. She, in her prelude gave a short note on Comparative Literature and its theory and practice beyond the confined boundaries. Soon after the Inaugural function, Paper presentation session was held in which twenty five students of PG presented their papers. The Valedictory function of the Seminar started at 3.00 p.m. The students who participated in the seminar came out with their words of feedback. Dr.R.Rajeswari, Principal, Pavai Arts and Science College for Women distributed certificates to the paper presenters. Ms.S.Vishvapriya of III B.A. English proposed the Vote of Thanks and the seminar came to an end with National Anthem.
