A one day UG level seminar on the topic, ‘Recent Development in Material Science’ was conducted by the Department of Physics of Pavai arts and Science College for women on 03.09.2018 in Keerthi Hall. 160 participants from our college attended the seminar. Dr.P.Duraisamy, Assistant Professor, PG & Research Department of Physics, Thiruvalluvar Govt. Arts College, Andagalore Gate. Was the Guest speaker for the occasion. The programme started with the prayer song R.Viveka, III B.Sc Physics welcomed the gathering. Dr. R.Rajeshwari, Principal, Pavai arts and Science College for women presided over the function and in the presidential cum inaugural address. She pointed out the advancement of Materials in the presence scenario. Then she concluded the speech stating that the student should find out the inner strength and do their duty in an efficient way, without expecting any rewards, as their rewards are already posted. Finally our Principal Madam released the CD and Volumes It was received by the chief guest Dr.P.Duraisamy. Mrs. K. Tamilarasi, Assistant professor, Department of Physics in her prelude insisted about the importance of learning the Material Science and its applications. Ms.S.Surya, Assistant professor, Department of Physics introduced the Guest speaker Dr.P.Duraisamy. The Guest Speaker, in his Keynote address explained the usage of Material Science and how it is used in our day to day life. Through ppt, he clearly described the Nano materials and Silicon material. Soon after inaugural function, Paper presentation session was held in which Dr. R. Rajeshwari, Principal. Pavai Arts and Science College for women evaluated the papers giving valuable suggestions and corrections to the paper presenters. The Valedictory function of the seminar started at 3.00pm. The faculty members and students who presented the papers came out with their words of feedback. In the feedback, the way in which the seminar was organized, the arrangements, the hospitality, the impressive and informative speech of the Our Principal, Dr. R. Rajeshwari, Pavai arts and science college for women, in the valedictory address spoke on the ‘Recent Development in Material science’. In the present competitive world everyone tends to be very selfish and ready to follow any strategy to achieve what they want. But as human beings to prove ourselves to be good citizens we should have ethical behavior. Certificates were distributed to the participants and the paper presenters. P.Keerthiga III B.Sc Physics proposed the vote of thanks and the seminar came to an end with National Anthem. The Heads of various Departments, the participants form our college students and faculty members were impressed and immensely profited through this seminar.
