The department of Geology was started with the aim of propagating knowledge and developing skill in the field of geology, and which is the fundamental applied sciences of exploration of natural resources. The department offers Three years Bachelor’s degree programme from 2018 onwards.

Dr.R.Poongodi,

Department of Geology
Dr. R. Poongodi is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geology at Pavai Arts and Science College for Women, Namakkal. She has 5 years of research experience in Hydrogeology. She completed her B.Sc. degree at Periyar University of Arts and Science College, Mettur, and her M.Sc. at Periyar University, Salem-11, where she secured the 1st University Rank for the academic year 2013-2015. She received a fellowship from the Department of Science & Technology (DST) – INSPIRE, New Delhi. Dr. Poongodi completed her Ph.D. at Periyar University, Salem-11.

Lab Facilities
The department has a well-equipped laboratory with Geological Models and Field Equipment for surveying. The lab also has Magascoic Rock samples, Mineral samples and Fossils for Palentological study in correlation of Stratigraphy.
