Red Ribbon Club

“Life is not to Live, but to live well”

RRC was inaugurated in the year 2010. The RRC promotes access to information on healthy life and voluntary blood donation. They create and provide opportunity to the zeal of volunteerism among youth to contribute towards the control and prevention of HIV&AIDS. The Red Ribbon Club is a voluntary on-campus intervention program for students. The programme organized by RRC addresses the knowledge, attitude and behavior of the youths in the interrelated areas of Voluntary Blood Donation, HIV & AIDS, as demanded by their age, environment, and life style.
RRC Activities: Red Ribbon Club programme with the objective of bringing about behaviour change in young minds employs various strategies like:
- Celebrating Life Program
- Cultural Competitions
- Interactions with positive people, Transgender, Injection Drug users, ICTC- Counsellors
- Awareness campaigns (Rallies, Outreach activities)
- Peer education and leadership training

The club with 100 Volunteers is taking active steps to protect the human life from HIV/AIDS under the guidance of Shri.H. Santharam. In this regard a hospital visit was also arranged during the even Semester 2011-2012 to Govt. Hospital, Rasipuram to know the function of ICTC [Integrated Counseling & Testing Centre].
An interactive session was given by Shri.H.Santharam under the topic “Creating Health awareness”. Special invitees from Inner Wheel Club Dr.Malliga Kualanthaivel and Dr. Alagammal gave an awareness lecture on the title “Importance of mother Feeding” on 5.8.2011.
The Institution, thus, continues to focus on quality education through various academic and non-academic activities. Both the faculty members and the students show keen interest in updating their knowledge, skills and research aptitude and also express their involvement in
community service. The college is fortunate to have been governed by a far-sighted management.

Youth Red Cross
The Red Cross is an International Organization meant for humanitarian services. It is a non-religious, non-political and non-sectarian International body. Humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality are the seven fundamental principles of the International Red Cross Movement. Red Cross Society functions with the prominent aim of serving people who are in distress without any consideration of caste, religion, language and nationality. The Indian Red Cross Society serves as an ancillary to the State authorities engaged in social welfare activities accepting the rules and regulations of the State but at the same time maintaining its autonomy so that it can act always in accordance with the fundamental principles.
The Youth Red Cross is the most important constituent of its mother organisation, Indian Red Cross. It is a student movement organised for students in Colleges and Technical Institutions. The objective of the Youth Red Cross is to impart a sense of discipline and formation of character to the students.
The Youth Red Cross wing of our College has undertaken lot of social service activities. It has conducted many awareness programmes on Fire-Fighting, Blood Donation, First-Aid, Environment Pollution Control, etc. The volunteers also involved in plantation of saplings in the College campus. their involvement in community service. The college is fortunate to have been governed by a far-sighted management.

National Service Scheme

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a programme organised by the Ministry of Education and Youth Services of the Government of India to offer opportunities and training in service to the community and the nation for students with an aptitude. It is intended to involve the college students in a variety of social service and developmental activities concomitantly with the normal academic programme. The motto of the scheme is “Education through Community Service” Students of the first and second year Degree classes are eligible for enrolment. A total of 100 students will be enrolled in our college unit which will be under the control of a Programme Officer. The NSS aims to develop in its volunteers the dignity for manual work and respect and concern for our rural masses and also the capacity to identify and study community problems, to plan and to carry out welfare projects as a team a variety of service programmes like Cleaning the Schools and villages, Eye donation, Blood donation, Free Eye Checkup, Planting trees, Coaching for Yoga, Training on First Aid, Awareness Rally etc. are done.

Meditation
In the college, students are doing Meditation between 12.30 P.M. to 1 P.M. The students are doing dhyana perfectly and sincerely. Through this Meditation, students are getting much more confidence and concentration in their studies.

NCC

National Cadet Corps (NCC)
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is the Indian military cadet corps with its headquarters at New Delhi. It is a voluntary organization which recruits cadets from high schools, colleges and universities all over India. The cadets are given basic military training in small arms and parades. The officers and cadets have no liability for active military service once they complete their course but are given preference over normal candidates during selections based on the achievements in the corps.

- To create a human resource of organized trained and motivated youth to provide leadership in all walks of life including the Armed Forces and be always available for the service of the nation.
In Pavai Arts and Science College for Women the NCC troop has started and inaugurated on 21.10.2019. The parade is going on from academic year 2019-2020 onwards.
