On 07.07.2026, the Youth Red Cross (YRC) organized an awareness programme for the students of Paavai Arts and Science College for Women, Anaipalayam, as part of the Induction Programme. The session was conducted by the Singapennae Team with the objective of creating awareness about personal safety, road safety, cyber security, and women’s empowerment.
The resource persons explained the importance of following road safety rules and traffic regulations to ensure personal safety. They also advised students to remain calm and composed during emergencies, avoid panic, and use mobile phones responsibly.
The team created awareness about various emergency helpline services, including the Kaaval Uthavi App for instant police assistance, 1930 for reporting cybercrime, 1091 (Singapennae) for women’s assistance, 1098 for child helpline services, and 100 for police emergencies. Students were encouraged to make use of these services whenever necessary.
As part of the awareness programme, students were motivated to educate younger children about the concepts of Good Touch and Bad Touch to help ensure their safety and well-being. The speakers also encouraged every young woman to be bold, confident, self-reliant, and courageous in facing life’s challenges.
Special emphasis was placed on cyber safety, highlighting the need to be vigilant against fraudulent phone calls, suspicious links, online scams, and OTP frauds. Students were advised to immediately inform their parents or the concerned authorities if they encountered any such incidents.
The session also encouraged students to support one another, stand against harassment in all forms, and become Safety Ambassadors by spreading awareness about safety practices in schools and local communities.
The programme was highly informative and interactive, leaving the students with a greater sense of responsibility, awareness, confidence, and empowerment to contribute towards building a safer and more secure society.
