On 27th February 2025, the Youth Red Cross (YRC) organized a program titled “Roles and Responsibilities of College Student Volunteers” at Keerthi Hall. The event began with a warm welcome by Ms. S. Kavya Shree, I B.Sc Physics.
The session was inaugurated by Dr. N. Ezhili, Principal, Paavai Arts and Science College for Women, who also delivered the presidential address. Ms. S. Poovitha, I B.Com, introduced the esteemed guest speakers, Dr. E. G. Wesley, District Organizer of YRC, Arignar Anna Government Arts College, Namakkal, and Mr. C. R. Rajeshkannan, Secretary of IRCS, Namakkal.
In his special address, Mr. Rajeshkannan raised awareness about anti-drug initiatives and elaborated on the values and principles of the Youth Red Cross (YRC). Dr. E. G. Wesley delivered an insightful PowerPoint presentation, covering:
- The history and values of the Youth Red Cross
- The founder of YRC and its significance
- Various emblems of different countries
- The importance of Blood Donation and Eye Donation camps
- Disaster management tips
- Awareness on polythene usage and the dangers of drug abuse
Additionally, Dr. M. Deepa encouraged students to download the “Drug-Free Tamil Nadu” app to support the state’s anti-drug initiatives.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. S. Charulatha, I B.Com.
