Department of English conducted a webinar on the title ‘English for Competitive World’ on June 16, 2021 through Google Meet. The programme commenced with the prayer song. Ms.N.Radhika of III B.A. English welcomed the gathering.
Ms.C.F.Reshma of II B.A. English introduced the guest speaker. The Guest speaker Dr.S.Geetha, Assistant Professor, Sri GVG Visalakshi College for Women, Udumalpet, in her speechsaidthat Communication is an art and process of creating and sharing ideas, which can be developed by observing other people and modelling one’sbehavior on what they see and perceive. Shethen said that by learning English one canovercome ones prejudices, intolerancesand contribute to shareinternational understandings.She further said that a good command over English can unlock plenty of opportunities and experiences for the professionals and students to achieve desired success. She also explained the four skills Listening, Writing, Reading and Speaking and gave some tips and ideas to the students to develop their communication skills. She conducted certain activities to kindle students’listeningcapacity and develop their pronunciations. She concluded her speech by insisting the students to ‘Think in English’ for better communication in this competitive world.
The programme came to an end with the vote of thanks delivered by Ms.M.Jenifa of III B.A. English.
