An Outreach Programme on “Saving and Insurance Awareness Creation” was organised at Kavundampalayam Village on 19.08.2026 with the primary objective of creating awareness among the rural community about the importance of financial planning, regular savings and insurance protection. The programme was organised as part of the institution’s community outreach initiatives to promote financial literacy and responsible financial practices among the public.
The programme was conducted under the guidance and coordination of Mrs.T.Amutha, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce and Ms.D.M.Lathadevi, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce with the enthusiastic participation of 43 students. The students actively engaged with the villagers through direct interaction and awareness activities. They explained the importance of developing a regular saving habit, managing income and expenses effectively, planning for future financial needs and maintaining financial discipline.
Special emphasis was given to insurance awareness. The students explained the role of insurance in providing financial protection against unexpected situations and highlighted the importance of life insurance, health insurance and accident insurance. The beneficiaries were also made aware of the need to choose suitable insurance coverage according to their financial requirements and family needs. The students clarified the doubts raised by the villagers and encouraged them to make informed financial decisions.
The programme benefited 53 members of the public from Kavundampalayam Village. The interaction provided the beneficiaries with useful knowledge about savings and insurance and encouraged them to adopt better financial practices for their future security. The programme also provided the participating students with valuable practical exposure to community interaction and financial awareness activities.
The outreach programme contributed significantly to developing financial literacy, awareness and responsible saving practices among the villagers. At the same time, it enhanced the students’ communication, teamwork, leadership, interpersonal and social responsibility skills. The programme successfully strengthened the bond between the institution and the local community and reflected the institution’s commitment towards community development and social responsibility.
