Math Association Activity: INFINITY MAZE – A Math Journey

The Math Association organized an inspiring event titled “INFINITY MAZE – A Math Journey” at Keerthi Hall on July 28, 2025, at Pavai Arts and Science College for Women. The program commenced with a prayer song, followed by a warm welcome address delivered by K. Shanthi of II B.Sc Mathematics.

The event was designed to inspire and motivate all students from the science department to engage with and appreciate the beauty of Mathematics. A key highlight of the program was the inspiring story of the mathematical genius, Srinivasa Ramanujan. In 1913, Ramanujan sent a letter filled with groundbreaking theorems to the renowned British mathematician G.H. Hardy at Cambridge University. Impressed by his brilliance, Hardy invited Ramanujan to Cambridge, where he made significant contributions to number theory, infinite series, modular forms, and more. Despite facing health challenges, harsh weather, and cultural differences, Ramanujan thrived academically. Though he passed away at the young age of 32, he left behind a legacy of over 3,900 theorems. His life story was portrayed in the 2015 film “The Man Who Knew Infinity,” starring Dev Patel.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who remained engaged throughout. The vote of thanks was proposed by P. Sreya of III B.Sc Mathematics, and the program concluded with the National Anthem.
