Paavai Arts and Science College for Women successfully inaugurated a five-day Bridge Course for all first-year students on 11 June 2026. The programme commenced with a prayer song and Tamil Thaai Vaazhthu rendered by the faculty members, followed by the traditional lighting of the Kuthuvilakku, symbolizing the beginning of a new academic journey.
The inaugural function was graced by Shri. CA N.V. Natarajan, Founder and Chairman, Paavai Educational Institutions; Smt. Mangai Natarajan, Correspondent; the Director of Admissions; and the Principal of Paavai Arts and Science College for Women.
The gathering was warmly welcomed by S. Sahana of III B.Sc. Computer Science. In her inspiring inaugural address, the Correspondent encouraged young women to become independent, courageous, and confident individuals with clarity of thought and purpose. Delivering the presidential address, the Chairman emphasized that college life provides an excellent platform for students to discover and develop their talents. He motivated them to make the best use of every opportunity available to shape a successful future. The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by M. Padmasree of III B.Sc. Nutrition and Dietetics.
Day 1 – A Warm Welcome to College Life
The first day offered students a memorable introduction to campus life. The Principal warmly welcomed the freshers and shared inspiring success stories of the institution’s distinguished alumni to motivate the new batch. The remarkable achievements of Paavai Educational Institutions were presented, instilling a sense of pride and belonging among the students.
A guided campus tour familiarized students with the classrooms, laboratories, library, and other campus facilities. Department-wise orientation sessions introduced students to faculty members, academic programmes, curriculum, and departmental activities. Students were also briefed on various career opportunities related to their respective disciplines, helping them understand the vision, mission, and values of the institution. Interactive ice-breaking sessions enabled students to build friendships and interact comfortably with their peers and seniors, making their transition from school to college smooth and enjoyable.
Day 2 – Empowerment, Health and Well-being
The second day focused on empowering students through awareness of health and personal well-being. Faculty members from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics conducted informative sessions on balanced nutrition, personal hygiene, and healthy lifestyle practices. Students also gained valuable insights into maintaining both physical and mental well-being during their college life.
Mr. Elavarasan, Yoga Master, conducted yoga and meditation sessions that helped students understand the importance of mindfulness, stress management, and concentration. Various creative activities encouraged self-expression and relaxation, while practical sessions on time management, healthy routines, and sleep hygiene highlighted the importance of maintaining a balanced lifestyle. The day emphasized holistic development beyond academics.
Day 3 – Discovering Strengths and Leadership
The third day was dedicated to helping students recognize their strengths and develop leadership qualities. Interactive activities encouraged self-confidence, decision-making, and effective leadership skills. Team-building games promoted collaboration, cooperation, and mutual respect among participants.
Puzzle-solving activities enhanced critical thinking and analytical abilities, while an exciting treasure hunt challenged students to work together strategically and make quick decisions. Through real-life scenarios and mentor guidance, students learned the importance of responsibility, trust, communication, and teamwork. The sessions inspired students to recognize how their individual talents contribute to collective success.
Day 4 – Building Communication Skills
The fourth day focused on enhancing communication and professional skills. Storytelling sessions helped students improve their creativity, self-expression, and stage confidence. Group discussions encouraged respectful communication and the confident sharing of ideas, while role-play activities provided practical exposure to real-life communication situations.
Students also participated in sessions on digital literacy, where they learned about online tools, digital safety, and effective use of educational resources. Faculty members provided guidance on competitive examinations, higher education opportunities, resume preparation, and interview etiquette. Constructive peer feedback and faculty mentoring helped students overcome stage fear and improve their presentation skills, preparing them for academic as well as professional success.
Day 5 – Celebration and Valediction
The final day celebrated the successful completion of the Bridge Course through vibrant cultural performances by the students, including music, dance, and other talent showcases. Students also presented their reflections and learning experiences gained throughout the five-day programme.
Feedback was collected from participants to further enhance future induction programmes. The Principal addressed the gathering with words of encouragement, motivating students to pursue their academic journey with confidence and determination.
The valedictory function marked the successful completion of the Bridge Course, celebrating the spirit of new beginnings. Students enthusiastically shared their experiences, followed by a group photograph that captured the memorable occasion. The programme concluded on a joyful note, leaving the freshers well-prepared and confident as they embarked on their regular academic journey at Paavai Arts and Science College for Women.
