The Department of Chemistry was established in the year 2014 with a view of imparting scientific and creative knowledge among the students of rural background. The main focus is to promote the knowledge of chemistry through innovative teaching methods. Our department has a fully functional and advanced laboratory creating a conducive atmosphere for true learning. The department has a team of highly accelerated, qualified and experienced faculty members.

DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES:
Guest lectures on Spectroscopy, Stereo Organic Chemistry are conducted regularly
Students actively participate in the departmental activities to conduct various experiments and they also make useful natural products. Industrial visits, Soft Skill Training and Classroom Assignments are provided to the students to enable them to expose themselves to the Industrial scenario. Students are encouraged to prepare working models for their subjects thus enhancing their creative and research skills.

Department of Chemistry
Ms. S. Surya, is currently working as an Assistant professor and Head of Physics & in charge of Chemistry Department in Pavai Arts and Science College for women, Anaipalayam. She has been working in the institution since 2016. She has the experience of 11 years in the field of Physics. She has completed her B.Sc, degree in Physics from Vivekanandha college of Arts and Science for women, Elayampalayam, and obtained her M.Sc, degree in physics from Vivekanandha college of Arts and Science for Women, Elayampalayam. She obtained her B.Ed degree in Vivekanandha College of Education for Women, Elayampalayam, and obtained her M.Phil degree in Padmavani Arts and Science College for women, Salem-11. She has presented 10 papers in national and international conference. She has organized various Association Activities, Guest Lectures, Symposia and National Level Seminars as a coordinator for the faculty members and students.

Infrastructure and Lab Facilities
The laboratories of the department can accommodate more than 70 students and contain 50 sets of apparatus for UG students. The laboratories are well-equipped with centrifuge machines, hot air ovens, water baths, etc. The lab facilities are also extended to the other departments for their Allied practicals.
