Department of Mathematics Organizes “Mathematics Talent Hunt – Puzzle Solving and Creative Math Challenges”

The Department of Mathematics, Pavai Arts and Science College for Women, successfully organized “Mathematics Talent Hunt – Puzzle Solving and Creative Math Challenges” on 15 July 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in Keerthi Hall. The event was designed to nurture students’ logical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and interest in Mathematics through a series of engaging and interactive activities.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by J. Selva Bharathi of II B.Sc. Mathematics, who welcomed the gathering and emphasized the importance of mathematical reasoning, creativity, and analytical thinking in everyday life.

The competition featured three exciting rounds that kept the participants actively engaged throughout the event.

The first round, Mathematics Riddles, was conducted by Harini Mohan Raj and Shiva Nandhini of I B.Sc. Mathematics. The thought-provoking riddles challenged the students’ analytical skills and encouraged enthusiastic participation.

The second round, Connection Game, was hosted by K. Kiruthika of II B.Sc. Mathematics. Participants enthusiastically identified mathematical concepts and their relationships, making the session both educational and enjoyable.

The third round, Mathematics Puzzle, was also conducted by K. Kiruthika. Students worked enthusiastically to solve a variety of mathematical puzzles, showcasing their logical reasoning, creativity, and teamwork.

Throughout the programme, the participants displayed remarkable enthusiasm and a healthy competitive spirit while solving the challenges. To appreciate and encourage their active involvement, chocolates were presented as rewards to students who answered the questions correctly, adding excitement and motivation to the event.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by Ranjani of I B.Sc. Mathematics, who expressed sincere gratitude to the Management, faculty members, student organizers, volunteers, and all the participants for their valuable support in making the event a grand success.

The Mathematics Talent Hunt proved to be an enjoyable and enriching learning experience, inspiring students to develop greater confidence, curiosity, and appreciation for Mathematics while fostering collaboration and critical thinking.
