Book Review – Reading Challenge

The Department of English, Paavai Arts and Science College for Women, successfully organized a “Book Review – Reading Challenge” on 21 July 2026.

The primary objective of the activity was to cultivate a regular reading habit among students and enhance their knowledge, vocabulary, and communication skills. The faculty members of the Department of English guided and encouraged the students throughout the programme.

As part of the activity, students presented reviews of the books they had read through both written journals and oral presentations. Each participant was given 15 minutes to present a summary of the book, share key takeaways, and express their personal reflections. The students participated enthusiastically, demonstrating their understanding of the books and confidently sharing the knowledge and insights they had gained through reading.

During the feedback session, many students expressed that reading books is an essential lifelong habit that contributes to both personal and academic development. They acknowledged that regular reading broadens their perspectives, improves language skills, and inspires critical thinking.

The programme concluded with an Oath-Taking Ceremony, during which faculty members and students pledged to make reading a part of their daily lives and nurture it as a lifelong habit. The activity received an enthusiastic response from the participants and successfully inspired students to develop a lasting interest in reading.
