Alumni Guest Lecture on “Building a Career in Quality Control at Tata Electronics”

The Department of Commerce organized an Alumni Guest Lecture on 08.04.2026 at Keerthi Hall. The session was delivered by Ms.P.Hemalatha, Junior Technician – Quality, Tata Electronics Private Limited. who belongs to the Batch 2022 – 2025.

The objective of the alumni session is to provide insights into building a successful career in Quality Control at Tata Electronics, sharing the alumni’s personal journey, key skills required, growth opportunities, and industry trends. It aims to guide attendees on the necessary qualifications, gaining relevant experience, and preparing for a career in QC while highlighting Tata Electronics’ work culture and values.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by A.Devasriakshaya   from II – B.C.A. The distinguished Principal mam honoured the Chief Guest with a memento. The Chief Guest was formally introduced by A.Haripriya from III – B.Com(CA). The session aimed to provide students with valuable industry insights and practical guidance for career development. The programme featured distinguished alumnae Ms.P.Hemalatha, B.B.A (2022–2025), currently working as a Junior Technician – Quality, Tata Electronics Private Limited, They addressed the gathering on the topic “Building a Career in Quality Control at Tata Electronics”, sharing their personal experiences, workplace challenges, and the importance of effective communication in achieving professional success. The speakers emphasized the role of confidence, clarity, and interpersonal skills in building a strong career foundation

The journey and experience of Ms. P. Hemalatha, a B.Com graduate (2022–2025) currently employed as a Junior Technician in the Quality Control department at Tata Electronics, are shared below. Upon joining Tata Electronics, the vital importance of the Quality Control role in ensuring product excellence was not initially realized. In the capacity of a Junior Technician, responsibilities include the inspection of products, the identification of defects, and the assurance that all outputs meet established high standards. The work is considered both challenging and rewarding, as constant attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and effective teamwork are required.

The experience regarding the interview process is also shared, which was characterized as smooth and focused on basic technical knowledge, communication skills, and confidence. Following the induction into the company, significant support was provided in the form of PG hostel facilities, safe and convenient cab transportation, and hygienic food accommodation, allowing for a much easier transition. Furthermore, a fair salary package for freshers is provided, while benefits such as the Provident Fund (PF) and other employee support systems are utilized to ensure financial stability and security. Overall, a supportive environment for both personal and professional growth is maintained by Tata Electronics.

Reflections are offered on college life, which is credited with playing a major role in the shaping of a career. During the time spent at the institution, not only was academic knowledge gained, but confidence, communication skills, and discipline were also developed. Guidance was provided by faculty members, and a strong foundation was built through opportunities to participate in various activities. Preparation was acquired through these experiences to face real-world challenges and to allow for quick adaptation to a professional environment. Gratitude is expressed toward the college for the assistance provided in reaching the current professional standing.

A total of 105 participants attended the event, including 100 students and 5 faculty members.

The session helped students to gain a clear understanding of career opportunities in Quality Control at Tata Electronics, along with practical insights into the work environment, interview process, and employee benefits. It also motivated students by highlighting the importance of skills, discipline, and learning from college experiences to achieve professional success.
