Guest Lecture on “Differential Equations and their Real World Applications”

The Department of Mathematics organized an informative Guest Lecture on “Differential Equations and Their Real-World Applications” on 14.08.2026 at Keerthi Hall at 10.00 a.m. The session was delivered by Mrs. E. Mynavathi, Assistant Professor, KSR College of Arts and Science for Women, Tiruchengode.

The lecture aimed to help students understand the importance of Differential Equations beyond the classroom and connect mathematical concepts with real-world situations. The resource person explained various concepts through interesting mathematical activities, interactive problem-solving sessions, real-life examples, and engaging mathematics videos. Students actively participated in several math-based activities and problem-solving tasks, which helped them understand how differential equations are applied in areas such as population growth, radioactive decay, disease modelling, motion, weather prediction, engineering, economics, and other real-life situations. The mathematics videos presented during the session made the concepts more visual, interesting, and easier to understand. The interactive approach encouraged students to think mathematically and appreciate the practical significance of Differential Equations. The session also provided an opportunity for students to clarify their doubts and gain a deeper understanding of mathematical modelling and its applications. The guest lecture was highly informative and engaging, leaving the students with a better appreciation of how Differential Equations serve as powerful mathematical tools for understanding and solving real-world problems.
