On 20 July 2026, the Department of Commerce and Business Administration of Paavai Arts and Science College for Women organized an insightful guest lecture on “Rural Entrepreneurship in India” at Keerthi Hall. The programme featured Dr. J. Josephine Daisy, Principal, Loyola College of Arts and Science, Mettala, as the distinguished guest speaker.
The programme commenced with a soulful prayer song followed by Tamilthai Vazhthu. V. Prathiuskha of III B.Com (CA) warmly welcomed the gathering. K.M. Priyadharshini of III B.Com introduced the esteemed guest speaker, paving the way for an informative and inspiring session.
Dr. J. Josephine Daisy shared valuable insights into the current entrepreneurial landscape in India, highlighting the remarkable growth of the country’s startup ecosystem. She explained various government initiatives, particularly Startup India, which provides aspiring entrepreneurs with financial assistance, mentorship, incubation support, and policy guidance. She also discussed recent developments in the startup ecosystem and the increasing success of ventures across sectors such as technology, healthcare, agriculture, and e-commerce.
The speaker emphasized the importance of rural entrepreneurship in strengthening India’s economy and explained how rural enterprises can create employment opportunities, utilize local resources effectively, and contribute to sustainable development. She encouraged students to identify business opportunities based on rural market needs and highlighted the role of government policies, financial institutions, and support agencies in promoting rural entrepreneurship.
The session also focused on developing essential entrepreneurial skills such as innovation, creativity, leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving. Students gained a better understanding of business planning, sustainable and ethical business practices, and the significance of entrepreneurship in achieving inclusive economic growth and rural development.
The interactive session inspired students to consider entrepreneurship as a rewarding career path. By sharing practical experiences and innovative business ideas, the guest speaker motivated the participants to become confident and socially responsible entrepreneurs.
