On behalf of Pavai Arts and Science College for Women, representatives participated in Gram Panchayat meetings held in five adopted villages: Chandrasekarapuram, Goundampalayam, Koneripatti, Kakkaveri, and Ayeepalayam.
These meetings were conducted to discuss the implementation of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) initiative by the college. The sessions were attended by our UBA Coordinator and led by the Principal Investigator, Dr. R. Poongodi, who explained the objectives of the UBA scheme, which focuses on empowering rural communities through need-based interventions.
She elaborated on the Village Adoption Plan in discussion with the Village Administrative Officer (VAO) and the villagers, under which the college has adopted nearby villages to support their development in the areas of health, education, and social awareness.
As part of the health initiative, the team proposed a Bone Density Testing Program for the villagers. The purpose of this test is to identify cases of osteoporosis and low bone density, which are common in rural areas due to nutritional deficiencies, lifestyle factors, and lack of medical awareness.
