On behalf of Pavai Arts and Science College for Women, the Department of Geology organized an activity on 11.08.2025 on the topic “Understanding the Earth” in Keerthi Hall. Students of Geology and other science departments were invited to this program.
The program began with a prayer song by A. Dilsath Nisha and M. Abinaya from the Department of Geology, followed by a welcome address delivered by K. M. Harinisri. Dr. M. Revathi, Principal of Pavai Arts and Science College for Women, delivered the presidential address and shared her experiences. Dr. R. Poongodi (Head of the Department of Geology) and A. Gomathi (Assistant Professor) also addressed the gathering.
The activity started with a short video about planets, followed by a “Connections and Jumble Words” activity, in which students participated eagerly. A PowerPoint presentation on “Important Facts” was given by III-year Geology students. Various types of minerals were displayed and explained by A. Brindha from III-year Geology. To conclude, an interesting short video on natural hazards was shown to the students.
Some students shared their feedback about the activity, and finally the session ended with the National Anthem.
All the students who attended the program enjoyed the session. The activity gave them valuable insights into our planet Earth and helped them realize the importance of understanding its wonders and mysteries.
