The Department of Commerce organized a guest lecture on the topic “Basics of Business Communication” on August 8, 2025, at 10:30 AM in Keerthi Hall, Pavai Arts and Science College for Women. The session was conducted by our distinguished alumna, Ms. T. Kanagavalli, M.A., Communicative Trainer, HICITZEN LIFE SKILLS, and was attended by the first-year students of the Department of Commerce.

The program commenced with a welcome address by Ms. S. Keerthika, III B.Com, followed by Ms. A. Haripriya, III B.Com (CA), who introduced the guest speaker.

In her address, Ms. T. Kanagavalli explained “What is Communication?” and elaborated on its key elements, types, and importance. She also discussed effective communication strategies, challenges faced in communication, common barriers, and ways to overcome them. Special emphasis was placed on the vital role of communication in the business world. Her insightful explanations, coupled with practical examples, made the session engaging and valuable for the students.

The lecture proved to be highly informative, enriching the participants’ understanding of communication in commerce.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. S. Keerthika, III B.Com, from the Department of Commerce.
